EkGuru connects people who want to speak Hindi with native-speaking tutors in India, one to one, over video. It also publishes a large amount of free Hindi material that costs nothing and asks for nothing.

Who runs it

EkGuru is built and run by Prakash, a B.Tech, Computer Science & Engineering student at MNIT Jaipur (2022–2026), based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. There is no team, no support desk and no investor. One person writes the pages, maintains the site and answers the email. You can check that this is a real person: LinkedIn.

Why it exists

Hindi is spoken by well over half a billion people and taught badly to almost everyone who tries to learn it from outside India. The usual failure is not grammar — it is that learners memorise for months and never speak to anybody. So the free material here is built around one idea at a time with something to say out loud, and the paid part is a real person who corrects you while you say it.

What is here

• Free written guides — the alphabet, numbers, verbs, gender, sentence structure, the whole beginner path.
• Interactive tools — alphabet explorer, flashcards, a quiz, a typing helper. No sign-up, and progress stays in your own browser.
• A thirty-day path — one idea and one task a day, about twenty minutes.
• Guides written for speakers of thirty other languages, because what Hindi gives a Spanish speaker for free is not what it gives a Japanese speaker.
• Tutors — a small, hand-checked list.

How the tutors work

Every tutor is a native Hindi speaker in India who teaches one to one over video. They set their own prices and their own hours. When you send a booking request it goes to that tutor directly, and they reply to you. EkGuru is the introduction, not the middleman: no subscription, no platform fee taken from you, and no payment handled on this site.

How this site makes money

Two ways, and they are worth stating plainly because most sites do not.

• Advertising. This site may display adverts. They pay for the hosting and for the time spent writing the free material. Adverts are chosen by the ad network and never by us, and no advertiser has any influence over what is written here or over which tutors are listed.
• Tutoring. Tutors earn from lessons they teach.

What we will not do: write a page because an advertiser wanted it, rank a tutor higher because they paid, or publish a review nobody wrote.

How the content is made

Written by hand, by people who teach or speak the language. Where a page is generated — the country and language pages are, because thirty of them share a structure — the substance in each is written specifically for it, and a page that has nothing genuine to say is not published at all. There are 120 country pages that do not exist for exactly that reason.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, please say so. Devanagari typed by hand goes wrong in small ways and a native speaker spotting it is worth more than any amount of proofreading here. Report it in a moment.
