"Is Hindi hard?" has no general answer. It is hard in different places depending on where you are starting from. A Japanese speaker gets the word order for free and struggles with the consonants. A Spanish speaker gets the vowels for free and struggles with aspiration. An Urdu speaker already speaks it and only needs the script. Pick your language and find out which problem is yours.

Why this matters more than it sounds

Most courses are written for a generic beginner, which in practice means a generic English-speaking beginner. If that is not you, you spend weeks on things you already know and get no help at all with the things that are genuinely hard from where you stand. A Tamil speaker being taught retroflex consonants is wasting a lesson. A Bengali speaker being taught the script slowly is wasting a fortnight. A Chinese speaker being drilled on aspiration already has it — their real problem is voicing, and nobody tells them.
