EkGuru › Answers › How can I practise speaking Hindi alone?
Shadowing. Play a clip, then say the sentence along with it, matching speed and intonation. Two minutes a day rebuilds your mouth's habits faster than an hour of reading. This is the highest-value item on the page.
Narrate your day. Out loud, in Hindi, badly. मैं चाय बना रहा हूँ. मैं बाहर जा रहा हूँ. It sounds ridiculous and it converts passive vocabulary into words you can actually produce.
Record yourself. Sixty seconds on any topic, then listen back. It is uncomfortable and it is the fastest way to hear your own filler words and wrong verb endings.
Dictation to your phone. Set the keyboard to Hindi and speak. If the phone types what you meant, your pronunciation was clear enough. Free, instant, honest feedback on sounds — though not on grammar.
Read aloud. Any Devanagari text. It fixes the script and your mouth at once.
You cannot correct an error you cannot hear. Learners plateau on the same handful of mistakes — a wrong gender ending, a flat retroflex ट, को where से belongs — and repeat them for months, becoming fluent at being wrong.
Voice apps do not catch this. A person catches it in ten seconds.
Twenty minutes a day alone, one conversation a week with someone who interrupts you. Solo practice builds the material; the session finds the faults. Reverse the ratio and you waste the lesson on things you could have drilled yourself.
Language exchange partners are free and genuinely helpful for confidence. They are usually not teachers, so they will not know why something is wrong — but they will tell you when it is, and at the beginning that is most of the value.
