What is actually spoken in an Indian workplace, and why the textbook register is the wrong one.
The first thing to know is that a great deal of Indian professional life runs in English. Contracts, email, presentations and formal meetings are usually English in the corporate sector. Hindi is what happens around them: the corridor, the site, the factory floor, the driver, the vendor, the small talk before a meeting that decides how the meeting goes.
That means the professional register you need is not the formal Sanskritic Hindi of documents. It is polite spoken Hindi — आप throughout, the -इए imperative (कीजिए, बताइए, भेजिए) rather than the blunt form, and enough numbers and dates to be precise.
Code-switching is normal and not a failure. A sentence like कल तक report भेज दीजिए is ordinary professional speech, not broken language. Learners who insist on pure Hindi sound stilted and make their colleagues work harder.
The one place where real Hindi ability changes outcomes is outside the office: manufacturing, logistics, construction, retail, field sales and anywhere your counterpart is not comfortable in English.
