Some mistakes are harmless and self-correcting. These are the ones that are not.
Confusing the dental and retroflex sets — त versus ट, द versus ड. English t and d fall between them, so an English speaker's every 'ta' is heard as an approximation of the wrong letter. This is the most damaging single error because it affects thousands of words.
Ignoring aspiration. क and ख are different letters. Treating the puff of air as decoration turns one word into another, repeatedly.
Postponing gender. Learning nouns without their gender means every adjective and every verb is a coin flip, and retrofitting gender onto a thousand words later is far harder than learning it with them.
Using ने with intransitive verbs. मैंने गया is wrong; it is मैं गया. Only transitive, only perfective.
Saying मैं पसंद करता हूँ for 'I like'. The correct structure makes the thing the subject: मुझे पसंद है.
Reducing vowels to schwa, so नमस्ते becomes nuh-mus-tuh.
Copying तू from films.
And the one that is not a language error at all: apologising in English mid-conversation, which ends the Hindi immediately.
