Why production is the bottleneck, and why it is the one thing you cannot do alone.
Almost every learner is better at Hindi than they can demonstrate. Comprehension runs ahead of production by a wide margin, and the gap is not knowledge — it is retrieval speed and the willingness to be wrong in front of somebody.
That has one uncomfortable implication. Reading, apps, flashcards and videos all build recognition. Only speaking builds speech. An hour of conversation moves you further than an hour of drilling, and it is also the hour people quietly skip, because it is the only one that is uncomfortable.
The second implication is that you cannot self-correct. You cannot hear your own errors — that is what an error is. A learner practising alone for six months does not arrive with six months of progress; they arrive with six months of one wrong pronunciation, now automatic and much harder to shift than it was in week one. This is the single strongest practical argument for a tutor, and it is a reason about physics rather than marketing.
What to do before you have someone to talk to: speak aloud anyway. Narrate what you are doing. Record sixty seconds and listen back — you will hear things that are inaudible while you are producing them.
