The Hindi sounds a Malay speaker gets free, the ones that need work, and a drill order that starts with your specific problem.
The Sanskrit layer, which is substantial and largely unrecognised by learners: bahasa, guru, dunia, raja, cinta, kepala, negara, harta, warna, sederhana all have Hindi counterparts from the same source. Malay grammar is also famously light — no gender to unlearn, no tense conjugation to unlearn — so you are building on a clean base rather than transferring a conflicting system. The five-vowel inventory maps well onto Hindi's short vowels.
These are ordered by how much damage each one does if left alone — not by how hard they are. A sound that changes one word into another matters more than one that merely marks an accent.

Hindi pairs every plain consonant with an aspirated one — क/ख, प/फ, त/थ, च/छ, ट/ठ — and the difference is a puff of air that changes the word. Hold a sheet of paper a few centimetres from your mouth and say both. It should move clearly for the second of each pair and stay still for the first.
If it moves for both, you are aspirating everything. If it moves for neither, you are aspirating nothing. Both are normal starting points depending on your first language, and both take about a fortnight of deliberate practice.
Two real words differing in exactly one sound. This is the standard technique for training a distinction your language does not make, because it removes every other cue.

Devanagari is easy to get slightly wrong when it is typed by hand — a missing matra, the wrong nukta. Partly. You can learn what to listen for, and this page gives you that. What you cannot do alone is hear your own errors — that is what an error is. A learner drilling in isolation for six months arrives with one wrong habit made automatic, not six months of progress.
Comprehensibility matters; sounding native does not. An accent is not a mistake. What is worth fixing is any sound that changes a word into a different word, and on this page those are named specifically.
You cannot hear your own errors — that is what makes them errors. Ten minutes of someone saying yes or no is worth more here than any amount of solo drilling, and it is the difference between an accent that fades and one that sets.
