Telugu B2 — B2 Upper-Intermediate Telugu

Draft: not yet reviewed by a native speaker. Existing availability and indexing are preserved by owner instruction; that is not an editorial approval. Suggest a correction.

The whole Telugu B2 level as one readable page: 3 units, 9 lessons, 63 words, 289 questions with every answer shown, a worksheet and a 10-item level test. Nothing here is behind JavaScript, and nothing needs an account.

Who this level is for. B2 is one of the six CEFR levels and the B2 rung on this site’s ladder: the learner in the picture is an adult, because on this site age is the rung — the same learner grows up the ladder as the language grows. By the end of it you can read a newspaper, write a real letter, joke.
An adult learning Telugu at level B2 (adult)
B2 — on the ladder this level is an adult, age 34: by the end of it the learner can read a newspaper, write a real letter, joke. The same figure is on the course hub and in how the eleven rungs work.

What you can do when B2 is finished

  • Build level-appropriate comprehension and production.
  • Use Telugu script with romanisation and accurate English meaning.
  • Adapt language to age, relationship, context, and register.

Telugu B2 beyond the drills — culture, reading, listening, idioms

These sections are written for Telugu B2 specifically. The reading text is EkGuru's own; the culture note cites where its facts come from; the idioms and the mistakes list are the ones this level actually trips over.

Culture note

Kuchipudi is a Telugu dance-drama tradition associated with the village of Kuchipudi in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district. The district's cultural-tourism description presents it as a performance art with dance and dramatic elements. For a learner, that means the language of a rehearsal includes directions, characters, entrances and expressive lines; a stage version is not simply a sequence of steps without story.

Reading — read this aloud, slowly

What it says: The Kuchipudi group rehearsed for a new performance. The dancer showed a character's feeling through facial expression; the musician kept the rhythm slow. The teacher asked them to change the order of steps in the middle section. After the group rehearsed again, the story became clear to the audience. At the end, everyone went backstage on time.

Listening — one voice, one text

Use the speaker button to hear this text with a browser voice tagged te-IN; playback starts only after a click. If no matching voice is installed, read it aloud yourself — the rhythm is the point.

గురువు: రెండో దృశ్యంలో పాత్ర ఎందుకు ఆగుతుంది?<br>నర్తకి: ఆమెకు వార్త విన్న తర్వాత సందేహం కలుగుతుంది.<br>సంగీతకారుడు: ఆ క్షణంలో తాళం తగ్గించనా?<br>గురువు: అవును, అప్పుడు భావం ప్రేక్షకులకు చేరుతుంది.

What it says: Teacher: Why does the character pause in the second scene? Dancer: After hearing the news, she becomes uncertain. Musician: Should I slow the rhythm at that moment? Teacher: Yes; then the feeling will reach the audience.

The 3 mistakes this level makes

  • నర్తకి భావాన్ని ముఖం చూపించింది. → నర్తకి భావాన్ని ముఖాభినయంతో చూపించింది. Use ముఖాభినయం for expressive facial acting; ముఖం alone names the face.
  • గురువు అడుగులు మార్చమని చెప్పింది. → గురువు అడుగులు మార్చమని చెప్పారు. This respectful reference to a teacher uses plural honorific agreement చెప్పారు.
  • ప్రేక్షకులకు కథ స్పష్టంగా కనిపించింది తరువాత. → తర్వాత ప్రేక్షకులకు కథ స్పష్టంగా కనిపించింది. Place the time connector before the clause it introduces.

Your task

సాధనకు దర్శకుని గమనిక Write a rehearsal note with three parts: describe what the dancer changes, explain what the musician should do at that moment, and say how the audience will understand the story. Use అయినప్పుడు, కాబట్టి and ప్రేక్షకులకు. End with one respectful request to a performer.

After B2: the B2+ checkpoint

B2+ is not a certificate — it is the half-step between Telugu B2 and the next level, and it is on this site’s ladder because language schools use it. You are at B2+ when you can run a meeting, read a contract, disagree well. Get there by working the recall drills above and the review deck until nothing on this page surprises you, then open the C1 pages.
