Draft: not yet reviewed by a native speaker. Existing availability and indexing are preserved by owner instruction; that is not an editorial approval. Suggest a correction.

The whole Urdu B2 level as one readable page: 3 units, 9 lessons, 63 words, 289 questions with every answer shown, a worksheet and a 10-item level test. Nothing here is behind JavaScript, and nothing needs an account.

Who this level is for. B2 is one of the six CEFR levels and the B2 rung on this site’s ladder: the learner in the picture is an adult, because on this site age is the rung — the same learner grows up the ladder as the language grows. By the end of it you can read a newspaper, write a real letter, joke.
An adult learning Urdu at level B2 (adult)
B2 — on the ladder this level is an adult, age 34: by the end of it the learner can read a newspaper, write a real letter, joke. The same figure is on the course hub and in how the eleven rungs work.

What you can do when B2 is finished

  • Communicate connected ideas accurately for the level.
  • Adapt register and structure to audience and purpose.
  • Interpret and produce Urdu with script, romanisation, and cultural awareness.

They re-ask what the course data already contains; no answer here was written by a machine, and a generated drill is practice, never a lesson.

Urdu B2 beyond the drills — culture, reading, listening, idioms

These sections are written for Urdu B2 specifically. The reading text is EkGuru's own; the culture note cites where its facts come from; the idioms and the mistakes list are the ones this level actually trips over.

Culture note

Urdu public and professional writing uses several ways to signal respect, distance and disagreement. A careful writer can challenge a claim while acknowledging the other person's proposal. Formal phrases should not be copied blindly into a family conversation, where a shorter, warmer expression may fit better.

Reading — read this aloud, slowly

محکمہ نے منصوبے کے نتائج جاری کیے، مگر رپورٹ میں ایک حد بھی لکھی۔ صرف تین علاقوں سے معلومات جمع ہوئی تھیں۔ مصنف نے اس لیے سفارش کی کہ اگلے مرحلے میں مزید علاقوں کو شامل کیا جائے۔

What it says: The department released the project's results, but the report also stated a limitation. Information had been collected from only three areas. The author therefore recommended including more areas in the next stage.

Listening — one voice, one text

Use the speaker button to hear this text with a browser voice tagged ur-PK; playback starts only after a click. If no matching voice is installed, read it aloud yourself — the rhythm is the point.

محرر: کیا ہم سفارش کو حتمی فیصلہ لکھیں؟<br>محقق: بہتر ہے اسے دستیاب نمونے سے وابستہ رکھیں۔<br>محرر: میں یہ حد واضح کر دوں گا۔<br>محقق: شکریہ، اس سے دعویٰ درست حد میں رہے گا۔

What it says: Editor: Should we write the recommendation as a final decision? Researcher: It is better to tie it to the available sample. Editor: I will make that limitation clear. Researcher: Thank you; that will keep the claim within its proper scope.

The 3 mistakes this level makes

  • اگرچہ منصوبہ مفید ہے، لیکن مگر مہنگا ہے۔ → اگرچہ منصوبہ مفید ہے، مگر مہنگا ہے۔ Choose one contrast linker rather than stacking alternatives.
  • اعداد اس بات کو ثابت ہیں۔ → اعداد اس بات کی تائید کرتے ہیں۔ Use an idiomatic evidence verb and avoid claiming proof beyond the data.
  • آپ کی رائے غلط ہے، اس لیے میں اختلاف کرتا ہوں۔ → میں اس نکتے سے مختلف نتیجہ اخذ کرتا ہوں۔ Disagree with a claim precisely instead of dismissing the person.

Your task

Urdu B2 reflection and production task Write a short response using two expressions from this level. State the audience, keep the address form consistent, and mark which claim is observed, reported or inferred. Read it aloud once and revise any phrase that overstates the evidence.

After B2: the B2+ checkpoint

B2+ is not a certificate — it is the half-step between Urdu B2 and the next level, and it is on this site’s ladder because language schools use it. You are at B2+ when you can run a meeting, read a contract, disagree well. Get there by working the recall drills above and the review deck until nothing on this page surprises you, then open the C1 pages.
