Bishkek's medical universities take large numbers of Indian students, and that has quietly made Kyrgyzstan a place where Hindi is a living street language in specific neighbourhoods rather than a distant curiosity. Kyrgyz gives a learner two structural gifts that make Hindi far less foreign than it looks. The language is verb-final, so Hindi's sentence order needs no rewiring — the shape you already speak in is the shape Hindi uses. And Kyrgyz uses postpositions, not prepositions, which is precisely what ने, को, में and से are. Most Kyrgyz speakers also read Russian in Cyrillic alongside Kyrgyz, so learning a third script is a task you have already done once.

Devanagari is easy to get slightly wrong when it is typed by hand — a missing matra, the wrong nukta. Romanised spellings are a guide to the sound, not a standard: there is no single official way to write Hindi in Latin letters.
