Emergency Urdu

مدد, ڈاکٹر, ہسپتال — emergency Urdu you hope to never need.

🔊 Tap any speaker button to hear Urdu spoken. Too fast or slow? Use the speed button at the bottom-right of the page.

The core three save lives: مدد (help), خطرہ (danger), فوری مدد (urgent help). مجھے مدد کیجیے (please help me) — say it to anyone, anywhere. Crowds respond to distress calls faster than any app; your job is only to ask.

Medical words route the rescue: ڈاکٹر (doctor), ہسپتال (hospital), دوا (medicine), میڈیکل اسٹور (pharmacy). ہسپتال کہاں ہے؟ (where is the hospital?) plus a taxi wave — in cities, help arrives in minutes.

Symptoms speak simply: یہاں درد ہے (it hurts here, point!), مجھے اچھا نہیں لگ رہا (I feel unwell), سر درد (headache), بخار (fever). Pain words plus pointing hands diagnose across every language barrier on earth.

Danger and loss close the kit: آگ (fire), چور (thief), پولیس (police), کھو گیا (it's lost), سفارتخانہ (embassy). Memorise these cold — emergencies never wait for phrasebooks, and ten minutes of drilling buys total peace of mind.

Language, culture, and common traps

A note on مدد. مدد (madad — help) is Urdu's shortest lifeline — shout it and crowds come running. Bystander culture is famously kind: strangers will escort you to hospitals, translate for doctors, and refuse thanks. Ask loudly; receive gratefully.

Practice: recall, then use

Use this quick recall drill for Emergency Urdu. Hide the script and romanisation columns; say the Urdu form for each cue before revealing its row, then check spelling and sound. The phrase-table speaker buttons provide a model when a matching browser voice is available.

  1. Please help me
  2. I feel unwell
  3. Embassy

Transfer practice. Practise a short, direct request for help and add the most important detail—your location, the person affected, or what is needed. Speak clearly and repeat the key noun if necessary. In a real emergency, use local emergency services and gestures or a written address as well as these phrases. Start from مجھے مدد کیجیے (mujhe madad keejiye) and decide whether it fits the situation before using it elsewhere.

Context check. For Emergency Urdu, “Embassy” belongs to a particular setting. A common mistake is to treat an English gloss as universal; read the language-specific note above and ask a fluent speaker when local usage differs.
