Stations start journeys: ریلوے اسٹیشن (railway station), بس اڈا (bus stand), ہوائی اڈا (airport). اسٹیشن کہاں ہے؟ (where is the station?) — ask anyone; people direct travellers with pride.
Tickets buy passage: ٹکٹ (ticket) — ایک ٹکٹ دیجیے (give one ticket), ٹکٹ کتنے کا؟ (how much?). گاڑی کب آئے گی؟ (when will the train come?) — گاڑی means both train and car; context steers.
Directions decode cities: دائیں (right), بائیں (left), سیدھا (straight), نزدیک (near), دور (far). سیدھا جائیے، پھر دائیں (go straight, then right) — follow, arrive, thank.
Stays shelter nights: ہوٹل (hotel), کمرہ (room), پتہ (address). کمرہ کتنے کا؟ (how much for a room?) — bargain smiling, sleep soundly. سفر ends in rest; rest remakes travellers.

Practice: recall, then use
Use this quick recall drill for Travel phrases. Hide the script and romanisation columns; say the Urdu form for each cue before revealing its row, then check spelling and sound. The phrase-table speaker buttons provide a model when a matching browser voice is available.
- Journey / travel
- To the right
- Address
Transfer practice. Picture one journey and ask for a destination, a direction, or a stop. Practise the request slowly enough to be understood, then repeat the place name back to check it. If the route is important, combine the spoken phrase with a map or written address rather than relying on one phrase alone. Start from سفر (safar) and decide whether it fits the situation before using it elsewhere.
Context check. For Travel phrases, “Address” belongs to a particular setting. A common mistake is to treat an English gloss as universal; read the language-specific note above and ask a fluent speaker when local usage differs.
