Fiji Hindi is a language in its own right, descended from the Awadhi and Bhojpuri brought by indentured labourers, and it is not a broken version of anything. Learners here typically speak it fluently at home and want standard Hindi for media, study or travel to India. That is not learning a language; it is learning a register. Be clear with a tutor that this is what you are doing, or you will be started on greetings you have used your whole life.

Devanagari is easy to get slightly wrong when it is typed by hand — a missing matra, the wrong nukta.
