Real Telugu conversation
Practise a Telugu conversation from introduction to follow-up, using the sample turns as a map rather than a fixed script.

Every first conversation follows the same dance: నమస్కారం, మీ పేరు ఏమిటి? (what is your name?), నా పేరు... (my name is...), మీరు ఎక్కడి నుండి వస్తున్నారు? (where are you from?). Four lines, and you have had a real conversation. Practise them in order until they flow without thinking.
Small talk runs on three questions: మీరు ఏమి చేస్తారు? (what do you do?), తెలుగు మాట్లాడతారా? (do you speak Telugu?), భోజనం చేశారా? (have you eaten? — asked with genuine care). Answer briefly, ask back immediately — మీరు? — because conversations are volleys, not speeches.
When the torrent comes — and Telugu hospitality pours words — deploy the brakes: నెమ్మదిగా మాట్లాడండి (please speak slowly), నాకు అర్థం కాలేదు (I didn't understand), మళ్లీ చెప్పండి (please say it again). Every Telugu speaker honours these instantly; they are the learner's seatbelt.
Close warmly and promise return: మిమ్మల్ని కలవడం సంతోషం (pleased to meet you), మళ్లీ కలుద్దాం (we'll meet again). Leave with a నమస్కారం and the door stays open — Telugu conversations end the way they begin: with folded hands.

- What is your name? (formal)
- Have you eaten?
- Friend
Context check. For Real Telugu conversation, “Friend” belongs to a particular setting. A common mistake is to treat an English gloss as universal; read the language-specific note above and ask a fluent speaker when local usage differs.
Check your recall: answer key

Questions learners ask
(mee peru emiti — what is your name?) for respect; (nee peru emiti) for friends and children. Answer with నా పేరు... (naa peru — my name is...). Names first, always.
(where are you from?) — then answer for yourself: నేను ... Origin questions are the universal second question; prepare your answer before you need it.
నెమ్మదిగా మాట్లాడండి (please speak slowly) and మళ్లీ చెప్పండి (please say it again). Said with a smile, these two sentences make every Telugu speaker slow down and help.
