One to ten: ఒకటి (okati), రెండు (rendu), మూడు (moodu), నాలుగు (naalugu), ఐదు (aidu), ఆరు (aaru), ఏడు (edu), ఎనిమిది (enimidi), తొమ్మిది (tommidi), పది (padi). Chant them in rhythm — Telugu numbers love rhythm — and they stick in days, not weeks.
Eleven to nineteen build on పది: పదకొండు (11), పన్నెండు (12), పదమూడు (13)... then the tens march: ఇరవై (20), ముప్పై (30), నలభై (40), యాభై (50), అరవై (60), డెబ్బై (70), ఎనభై (80), తొంభై (90), వంద (100). Past twenty, glue tens to units — ఇరవై ఒకటి (21) — and count to a thousand (వెయ్యి) without fear.
Money runs on numbers: the currency is the రూపాయి (roopaayi — rupee), and ఎంత? (enta — how much?) is the most useful sentence in Telugu states. Listen for the number, repeat it back — యాభై? (fifty?) — and your first Telugu transaction completes itself.
Time reuses numbers with గంట (ganta — hour): రెండు గంటలు (two o'clock), ఐదు గంటలు (five o'clock). ఇప్పుడు టైమ్ ఎంత? (what time is it now?) is the question; half hours add -న్నర. Numbers, money, clocks: one skill, three daily victories.

Questions learners ask
International digits for daily life — prices, phones, buses all use them. Telugu has traditional number words in full use (ఒకటి, పది, వంద) but modern digits in print.
Take the number, add గంటలు (gantalu — hours): మూడు గంటలు (three o'clock). Half past addsన్నర — మూడున్నర is half past three. One rule, every clock in Telugu states.
ఎంత? (enta — how much?). Then listen for the number plus రూపాయలు (roopaayalu — rupees). Market Telugu is the fastest teacher there is.
