Flashcards by topic in Telugu

A few Telugu topic-card reviews at spaced intervals are easier to keep up than a single weekly cram.

Cards carry memory: కార్డు (card) — one word, one side; meaning, the other. జ్ఞాపకశక్తి (memory) strengthens with every recall; మరపు (forgetting) is just unreviewed memory. Build decks per topic — greetings, food, verbs — and review each separately.

Spacing schedules success: విరామం (interval) — review new cards tomorrow, then in three days, seven, thirty. మళ్లీ మళ్లీ (again and again), but wider each time. Cramming fills hours; spacing fills years.

Rhythms sustain streaks: రోజూ (daily) quick decks, వారానికి (weekly) full reviews, నెలకు (monthly) championships. Ten daily minutes beat Sunday marathons; streaks turn study into అలవాటు (habit).

Scores gamify growth: మార్కులు (marks), పోటీ (contest), ఘనత (achievement) — even ఓటమి (defeat) teaches. Quiz yourself, beat yesterday's score, celebrate loudly. Flashcards are games that pay in fluency.

Language, culture, and common traps

A note on పునశ్చరణ. పునశ్చరణ (punascharana — revision, recollection) is Telugu's own word for spaced review — recalling again, and again, at widening intervals. The language itself teaches the method: revisit, widen, remember.

Practice: recall, then use

Use this quick recall drill for Flashcards by topic. Hide the script and romanisation columns; say the Telugu form for each cue before revealing its row, then check spelling and sound. The phrase-table speaker buttons provide a model when a matching browser voice is available.

  1. Card
  2. Achievement
  3. Monthly

Transfer practice. Use the three cues as active-recall cards: try each answer before turning to the key, then revisit the ones you missed after a short break. Shuffle the order on the next pass. Do not count a card as learned just because the answer looks familiar while it is visible. Start from కార్డు (kaardu) and decide whether it fits the situation before using it elsewhere.

Context check. For Flashcards by topic, “Monthly” belongs to a particular setting. A common mistake is to treat an English gloss as universal; read the language-specific note above and ask a fluent speaker when local usage differs.

  2. ఘనత ghanata — Achievement
  3. నెలకు nelaku — Monthly

Questions learners ask

How often should I review?

మళ్లీ మళ్లీ (again and again) — but spaced: 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 30 days. విరామం (spacing) beats cramming; జ్ఞాపకశక్తి (memory) loves intervals.

How many cards per topic?

Five to ten per topic — quality over quantity. Master one కార్డు deck fully before opening the next; half-known decks rot.

Daily or weekly review?

రోజూ (daily) short sessions — ten minutes, every day, no exceptions. Streaks compound; మరపు (forgetting) loses to routine.
