Can I learn Hindi by myself?

You can reach a good reading and listening level entirely alone — the free material is genuinely excellent. What you cannot do alone is learn to speak correctly, because nothing free can hear you and correct you.

Speaking. Not because it is hard, but because you cannot hear your own mistakes. Specifically:

The result is very common: people who can read Hindi, follow a film with subtitles, and freeze completely when someone speaks to them.

The cheapest fix

Self-study for everything, plus one conversation a week with a person. Not daily lessons — one hour, weekly, purely speaking.

A language exchange partner is free and works if you are disciplined. A tutor costs $6–$6 and is more focused because they correct rather than just chat. What tutors cost.
