We run a small Hindi tutoring site, so we have an obvious interest in you not using either. You should still know how they work, because for most learners a big marketplace is a perfectly sensible place to start — the choice is wide and the reviews are real.
Commission comes out of the tutor's earnings, not off your bill. A tutor keeping 67% of $6 earns $6. That is why the same person is often cheaper booked directly, and why many tutors quietly prefer it.
Not the platform. It is whether the tutor makes you speak from the first lesson instead of lecturing you about grammar, and whether you like them enough to keep showing up on a Tuesday when you are tired.
Take a trial with two or three tutors anywhere — including ours — and pick the person, not the site.
