Brazilian interest in Hindi comes mostly from culture rather than migration — Bollywood has had a devoted Brazilian audience since the telenovela Caminho das Índias, yoga and Ayurveda bring people in, and there is a steady trade relationship. Portuguese speakers share the Spanish advantage on vowels and the rolled r, with an extra one: Portuguese nasal vowels prepare you for Hindi's anusvara, the little dot that nasalises a vowel and which English speakers consistently ignore. The timezone is the hard part — Brazil is eight and a half hours behind India, so lessons realistically mean early morning for you.
Portuguese nasalisation transfers well to ं and ँ. The trap is the Brazilian habit of palatalising t and d before i — 'dia' as 'jia' — which will turn दिन into something a Hindi speaker hears as a different word.

Devanagari is easy to get slightly wrong when it is typed by hand — a missing matra, the wrong nukta.
